51¾«Æ·ÊÓƵ staff member selected for Burroughs Wellcome Fund’s Project Development and Evaluation Workshop

, associate director of the Office of Academic Career Development in the 51¾«Æ·ÊÓƵ Schools of the Health Sciences, was among ten candidates selected to participate in the Burroughs Wellcome Fund’s .

The program is targeted at early career administrators providing professional support services for PhD scientists. Following a three-day workshop in August, Miller will embark on a year-long research project supported by a $15,000 grant. After completing her study, she’ll submit those results for presentation at a national meeting and prepare a related manuscript for publication.

“I am honored to receive this opportunity. Attending this workshop will allow me to develop the tools necessary to critically evaluate programming for 51¾«Æ·ÊÓƵ trainees in the health sciences," Miller said.

She said her post-workshop goal is to create transformative programming that supports trainees’ career development and success and continues 51¾«Æ·ÊÓƵ’s tradition as a leader in the training of biomedical researchers.

The Burrough’s Wellcome Fund is a private foundation dedicated to advancing the biomedical sciences. The fund champions many causes, including studying human infectious diseases, North Carolina’s STEM teachers and physician-scientists.
