Michel Gobat was named a finalist for the PROSE Award

The Cathedral of Learning reflected in Posvar Hall

, associate professor in the Department of History, has been named a finalist for the 2019 PROSE Awards for his book, “Empire by Invitation: William Walker and Manifest Destiny in Central America.”

Each year, the Association of American Publishers presents its PROSE Awards to “recognize the very best in professional and scholarly publishing by bringing attention to distinguished books, journals, and electronic content.”

ҴDz’s centers around William Walker, a believer in the nation’s manifest destiny, and the “untold story” of the rise and fall of the first U.S. overseas empire in Nicaragua.
