Michele Reid-Vazquez, associate professor of Africana Studies, has been awarded a National Endowment for the Humanities for her proposed institute, “Transnational Dialogues in Afro-Latin American and Afro-Latinx Studies.” The two-week event will host 25 higher education faculty who will bring a transnational perspective to Afro-Latin American and Afro-Latinx cultures in the U.S.

Reid-Vazquez established and directs the Afrolatinidad Studies Initiative at 51��Ʒ��Ƶ. Her research focuses on the history of the African Diaspora in the Caribbean and Latin America, as well as Afro-Latinx communities in the United States.
