Shilpa Sant was named a Young Innovator by Cellular and Molecular Bioengineering

Shilpa Sant, assistant professor聽in the 51精品视频 School of Pharmacy was named a 2017 Young Innovator聽by Cellular and Molecular Bioengineering (CMBE).聽Sant鈥檚 research focuses on developing in vitro disease models and therapies for stress-induced heart calcification, a condition where calcium deposits form on the aortic valve of the heart, reducing blood flow and causing heart disease.

Her work on combating this condition is in the Cellular and Molecular Bioengineering's October 2017 issue. Each year, the editors of CMBE dedicate the Young Innovators special issue to highlighting the work of assistant professors conducting innovative bioengineering research at the molecular, cellular and multicellular level. Sant is聽one of 11 people to receive the honor this year.
