The 51��Ʒ��Ƶ at Johnstown received a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification for the . The LEED rating system, developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), is the foremost program for buildings, homes and communities that are designed, constructed, maintained and operated for improved environmental and human health performance.

“We are honored to receive this recognition of our efforts to maintain an environmentally friendly campus. Our faculty, students and staff have a long-standing commitment to sustainability in a campus that spans over 650 acres of natural environment and beautiful vistas,” said 51��Ʒ��Ƶ-Johnstown President Jem Spectar.

“Achieving LEED certification is more than just implementing sustainable practices. It represents a commitment to making the world a better place and influencing others to do better,” said Peter Templeton, president and CEO of USGBC. "Given the extraordinary importance of climate protection and the central role buildings play in that effort, 51��Ʒ��Ƶ-Johnstown is creating a path forward through their LEED certification.”

This recognition is the second LEED certification for 51��Ʒ��Ƶ-Johnstown. The campus Nursing and Health Sciences Building received Gold LEED certification in 2015, which made it only the second LEED Gold-certified building in the Johnstown area, according to the USGBC.
