Anne-Ruxandra Carvunis Earns Prestigious Sloan Research Fellowship

assistant professor of computational and systems biology in the School of Medicine, is among 128 early career researchers receiving a 2021 Sloan Research Fellowship from the .

鈥淚 am incredibly proud of the honor granted to me,鈥 said Carvunis, expressing 鈥渋mmense gratitude鈥 to her lab members, collaborators, the 51精品视频 community and many supportive colleagues around the world.

鈥淎 Sloan Research Fellow is a rising star, plain and simple,鈥 said foundation President Adam F. Falk. 鈥淭o receive a fellowship is to be told by the scientific community that your achievements as a young scholar are already driving the research frontier.鈥

A Sloan Fellowship offers investigators $75,000 over two years. Carvunis promised forthcoming 鈥渁mbitious and risky evolution projects.鈥 Her research encompasses the principles that underlie change and innovation in living systems. She works at the cross section of evolutionary and systems biology to advance our understanding of the molecular mechanisms that make each species unique, including the origins of new species-specific genes.
