Sabrina Helbig receives Charles LeGeyt Fortescue Graduate Scholarship

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers聽(IEEE) Educational Activities Board has selected Sabrina Helbig, a first-year graduate student at the 51精品视频鈥檚 Swanson School of Engineering, to receive the .

Fortescue (1876-1936) was an electrical engineer who spent his career at the Westinghouse Corporation. The award is given to a beginning graduate student for one year of full-time graduate work in electrical engineering.

鈥淪abrina is one of the finest students in our electrical and computer engineering program,鈥 said Alan George, chair of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at 51精品视频 and fellow of the IEEE. 鈥淲e are very proud of Sabrina and excited about her award of this most prestigious scholarship from IEEE for graduate studies.鈥

Helbig is studying electrical engineering focused on electric power. She graduated from the 51精品视频 with her B.S. in electrical engineering, a concentration in electric power and minors in computer science and French in December 2020. Her interests include clean energy, power grid resilience and power electronics.
