Katz PhD candidate Theresa Kwon wins global competition for dissertation proposal

Theresa (Tess) Kwon, a PhD candidate in marketing at the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business, is one of two joint winners worldwide in a competition.

Kwon was announced during the society鈥檚 conference March 3-5, 2022, as a winner of its 2022 Dissertation Proposal Competition for her submission, 鈥淪olo and Joint Aspects of Consumer Behavior.鈥 The recognition is considered the highest honor that a doctoral student can receive from the premier society for consumer psychology researchers.

Kwon鈥檚 dissertation consists of three essays examining factors that shape people鈥檚 decisions about whether to engage in consumption activities by oneself or with others (e.g., whether to buy products together with others or by oneself, whether to dispose of products with others鈥 input or by oneself, whether to go on trips and other excursions with others or by oneself).

Her dissertation is chaired by , the Ben L. Fryrear Chair in Marketing and associate professor of Business Administration at the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business.
