University Library System Acquires Daniel Kraus Papers

There鈥檚 a significant new addition to the Horror Studies Collection at 51精品视频. The (ULS) has acquired the papers of 鈥攁 prolific writer in the horror genre who currently lives in Chicago. It represents the first addition to the collection from a literary figure and author, thus expanding the scope of the collection beyond filmmaking as established through the inaugural acquisition of the .

Two of Kraus鈥 novels, 鈥淩otters鈥 and 鈥淪cowler,鈥 received the American Library Association Odyssey Award honoring excellence in children鈥檚 and young adult audiobooks. He was asked by George A. Romero鈥檚 literary agent to finish Romero鈥檚 epic zombie novel, 鈥淭he Living Dead,鈥 which is set to publish in August of this year. Kraus also has collaborated with horror filmmaker and Academy Award winner Guillermo del Toro, in co-authoring the novels 鈥淭rollhunters鈥 and 鈥淭he Shape of Water.鈥

鈥淚鈥檓 the writer I am today because of George A. Romero,鈥 said Kraus. 鈥淪o, it makes perfect sense to me that I follow his giant footsteps in placing my past work with the 51精品视频.鈥

The Daniel Kraus Archive, which will be processed later this year, will document the beginning of his career and includes works he produced as a child and teenager. It will also include manuscripts and drafts of his published works: 鈥淭he Monster Variations,鈥 鈥淩otters,鈥 鈥淪cowler,鈥 andThe Life and Death of Zebulon Finch.鈥
