51¾«Æ·ÊÓƵ

Applications are now open for a Project Development Cohort with the 51¾«Æ·ÊÓƵ’s Office of Engagement and Community Affairs. The program aims to make community engaged scholarship more accessible and affordable for students, faculty and non-51¾«Æ·ÊÓƵ members.

Community engaged scholarship takes time — from creating a strong theory of change to developing strong collaborations and enlisting the breadth of constituents and resources that need to be involved. Over four facilitated sessions, a cohort of project teams will work together to refine and advance the logistic feasibility, community relevance, scholarly rigor and social impact of their plans.

Each project team is limited to four people and should include at least one 51¾«Æ·ÊÓƵ faculty member and at least one member who primarily works in a community-serving program or entity not affiliated with 51¾«Æ·ÊÓƵ. This may include individuals working in nonprofit organizations, governmental agencies, on behalf of resident coalitions or civic associations, faith-based organizations and cultural or P-12 educational institutions.

The Office of Engagement and Community Affairs will offer a $1,600 stipend to non-51¾«Æ·ÊÓƵ members for attending all four sessions, in recognition that community-based partners are offering valuable time and expertise for which they may not be otherwise compensated.
