The announcement from Provost and Senior Vice Chancellor Ann E. Cudd described the importance of a campus enriched by the power of differing views and perceptions.
鈥淗igher education as a whole has been at a forefront of engagement around respecting divergent viewpoints 鈥 and the right for various viewpoints to find opportunities for expression,鈥 Cudd wrote. 鈥淎s a public university, we must and do uphold the principles of protected speech and expression. That is a tradition and an expectation as old as the University itself 鈥 and it lies at the heart of free and open inquiry and academic discourse.鈥
Kenyon Bonner, vice provost for student affairs, and Carissa Slotterback, dean of 51精品视频's Graduate School of Public and International Affairs, will lead programming for the University鈥檚 10th themed academic year. They will work alongside a committee of faculty, staff and students, to be convened.
