How to find 51精品视频鈥檚 Black History Month events

Each February, the 51精品视频 joins the nation in celebrating the history of Black people across the African diaspora, as well as their culture and contributions to our country and institution.

The month kicks off Feb. 1 with a conversation between听, assistant professor of Africana Studies in the Kenneth P. Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences, and听Robert J. Patterson听of Georgetown University鈥檚 Department of African American Studies about Brooks鈥 new book, 鈥淐lass Interruptions: Inequality and Division in African Diasporic Women鈥檚 Fiction.鈥

The overall theme for this year鈥檚 events is the Blue, Gold and Black Experience, which seeks to elevate the contributions and perspectives of 51精品视频鈥檚 Black community members. The University鈥檚 signature K. Leroy Irvis Black History Month programming will take place from Feb. 21-25 to explore this theme. Events include:

  • A virtual Blue, Gold and Black Digital Archive debut on Feb. 21 at 6 p.m.
  • A weeklong Blue, Gold and Black Digital Archive photo gallery on the first floor of the William 51精品视频 Union starting Feb. 21
  • A virtual on Feb. 25.

What you need to know

If you are a designated calendar administrator, the Office for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion asks that you help get the word out about Black History Month events in your unit by adding your events and programming to the听听using the 鈥淏lack History Month鈥 tag.

鈥淭here are so many great events across the University each year for Black History Month 鈥 even during the pandemic,鈥 said Clyde Wilson Pickett, vice chancellor for the Office for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. 鈥淲e want to let our 51精品视频 community know about as many of these events as possible, which is why we're asking everyone to use the universal calendar.鈥
