Explore the Science of Viruses with 51ƷƵ Experts at Carnegie Science Center

Calling all future scientists: Meet world-renowned virologists, immunologists, infectious disease doctors and more at , a family-friendly event taking place at the Carnegie Science Center on Aug. 14.

Experts from ʾٳ’s (CVR), including Director and Jonas Salk Professor Paul Duprex, will answer questions about SARS-CoV-2, herd immunity and why it’s important, and the need to continue being creative in vaccinology. Attendees can also take part in activities to learn about the structure of viruses and how disease spreads and see what scientists who work with these dangerous viruses in the CVR wear.

Additionally, see thetheatrical debut of“,” produced by 51ƷƵ's (C4C) and C4C's producer ,in the Rangos Giant Cinema at 10:15 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.The film takes viewers inside the biocontainment laboratories in the CVR where Duprex and his team have been working collaboratively with scientists around the world to unlock the secrets of COVID-19 and find ways to defeat the newcoronavirus.

All SARS Saturday activities run from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and are free to the public.Free tickets for “Chasing COVID”are provided at the Science Center’s ticket counter in the main lobby on a first-come, first-served basis on the day of the event. Those who wish to explore the Science Center’s galleries will need to purchase a general admission ticket.

The event is presented by the University with funding from ʾٳ’s Office of the Senior Vice Chancellor for Research.
