Stephanie Eckstrom, director of 51¾«Æ·ÊÓƵ-Bradford’s Master of Social Work program, earned the Gateway to Equity award from the Bradford branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW).

The Gateway to Equity Award is given annually to an individual, group or organization that advances the AAUW’s mission of advancing gender equity for women and girls through research, education and advocacy.

Eckstrom (A&S ’14G) has led the regional campus’ MSW program since its 2002 inception. As an adjunct professor in 51¾«Æ·ÊÓƵ-Bradford’s sociology program, she created the course Sociology of Sexuality. She also helped to form the school’s Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies program and minor.

Along with several other School of Social Work committees, Eckstrom serves as co-chair for the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee. She is also a member of the President’s Committee on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and plans events for heritage and history months at 51¾«Æ·ÊÓƵ-Bradford.
