15 51¾«Æ·ÊÓƵ students were named Gilman scholars

The U.S. Department of State’s announced its latest winners, including 15 51¾«Æ·ÊÓƵ Students. The Gilman scholarship supports undergraduates receiving Federal Pell Grants with up to $5,000 as they study abroad.

51¾«Æ·ÊÓƵ’s latest winners and their destinations are:

  • Danijel Babic, a senior in the studying mechanical engineering (Germany)
  • Isabel Brovender, a senior in the majoring in rehabilitation science (Italy)
  • Chandler Byers, a senior studying politics and philosophy in the (Jordan)
  • Michelle Chung, a senior in the (Switzerland)
  • Jia Colon, a senior majoring in history in the Dietrich School (Denmark, Germany and Greece)
  • Maria Cortes Flores, a junior studying marketing in the (France)
  • Valentina Gomez, a junior studying emergency medicine in SHRS and the Dietrich School (India)
  • Jamisha Jacobs, a senior in the majoring in natural sciences and Spanish (Spain)
  • Tyler Kenny, a senior studying mechanical engineering in the Swanson School (Italy)
  • Kira Klein, a senior in the and the Swanson School studying civil engineering (Italy)
  • Betty Kromah, a senior majoring in social work in the (South Africa)
  • Stacey Ngo, a senior in the Frederick Honors College and Swanson School studying chemical engineering (Italy)
  • Vanessa Pratt, a senior majoring in marketing and supply chain management in the College of Business (Australia)
  • Natalie Schwarzwalder, a senior majoring in emergency medicine in SHRS (India)
  • Brandon Torres, a senior in the Dietrich School studying anthropology (Belize)

The David C. Frederick Honors College’s recruits and supports Gilman recipients through each step of the extensive scholarship application process. All students at 51¾«Æ·ÊÓƵ can take advantage of the scholar mentors’ services providing expert feedback on application essays, coaching through mock interviews and networking with faculty who can provide applicants with effective recommendation letters.
