Norman Wolmark, professor of surgery at the 51精品视频 School of Medicine, received the Medallion for the Advancement of Surgical Care from the American Surgical Association.
Over the past four decades, Wolmark has contributed to some of the most important advances in surgical oncology. He received his medical degree from McGill University before training in surgery at 51精品视频. He also completed surgical oncology training at the surgery branch of the National Cancer Institute and at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
After joining 51精品视频鈥檚 faculty in 1979, Wolmark rapidly rose through the ranks to become professor of surgery and the inaugural Dr. Mark M. Ravitch Professor of Surgery. In 1994, he assumed the chairmanship of the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project, a position he still holds.
Among his other honors are a Giant of Cancer Care award from OncLive, a distinguished service award from the Society of Surgical Oncology, the Gianni Bonadonna Breast Cancer Award from the American Society of Clinical Oncology and a Brinker Award for Scientific Distinction in clinical research from Susan G. Komen.
