Learn more about personal safety and the resources available to the 51��Ʒ��Ƶ community at the on Monday, Feb. 28, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the William 51��Ʒ��Ƶ Union Assembly Room.

“This year, pedestrian and traffic safety is a big concern for everyone navigating the 51��Ʒ��Ƶ campus and Oakland area,” said 51��Ʒ��Ƶ Police Office Heather Walker. “We will be featuring a DUI/text simulator and also Spin eScooters to demonstrate and promote safe riding.”

Attendees will be entered to win a pair of Apple AirPods Pro.

Multiple groups will present, including:

• Environmental Health & Safety
• Integrated Security
• Title IX office and Sexual Assault Facilitation and Education (SAFE) peer group
• 51��Ʒ��Ƶ IT
• Parking and Transportation
• 51��Ʒ��Ƶsburgh Action Against Rape
• PennDOT
• Spin eScooters

Aside from the fair, 51��Ʒ��Ƶ’s Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management offers many other learning opportunities, including self-defense training with Officer Walker.

“51��Ʒ��Ƶ Police has offered self-defense training since 2005. This program was developed to enhance safety on campus and to provide basic self-defense skills and tactics for the 51��Ʒ��Ƶ community,” she said. “The mission of the SAFE self-defense class is to provide beginner level self-defense training to our students, staff and faculty and enhance situational awareness and safety, on and off campus.”
