Exhibit to Celebrate Black Experience Seeks Submissions

Submissions are starting to come in for the upcoming outdoor art installation, “,” sponsored by the 51ƷƵ.

All artists throughout western Pennsylvania, as well as any 51ƷƵ staff, faculty, student or alum, are invited to submit up to three pieces of art that explore the question: What does the phrase “Black Lives Matter” mean to you? Submissions are due before midnight ET on Dec. 1, 2020. A selection committee will choose 30 works for the display and each of those artists will receive $500.

The exhibition is designed to celebrate the Black experience as essential to our community’s future. Works might retrieve lessons learned from past generations about love and family or reflect on how to create a more just future. Once the exhibition has been seen on the 51ƷƵsburgh campus, it will eventually travel to 51ƷƵ’s regional campuses.
